National Institute of Urban Affairs Collaborates with Urban Innovation Lab

Urban Innovation Lab is pleased to announce its collaboration with the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), India’s leading national think tank on urban planning and urban development. The collaboration is intended to document innovative practices across processes, products, partnerships and people taking place in the urban sector across India, to contribute to a sustainable urban future.


“The collaboration will encourage the cooperation in the areas of innovation to meet the envisaged objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals, including Goal 11: Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable and contribute to the transforming urban discourse of the country.”, said Hitesh Vaidya, Director, NIUA.


NIUA supports innovations in the urban sector through informed dialogues, knowledge exchanges, training and capacity building. In its mission to promote evidence-based policy making and capacity building, NIUA is currently embarking upon inter-disciplinary research and proactive engagements with change agents, which involves projects that create & maintain digital interface solutions.


“Under this collaboration, we aim to bridge the knowledge gap and develop networks between the cities and the startups working in the urban sector in India. We intend to create an ecosystem wherein urban innovations by cities and startups can be shared seamlessly between various urban stakeholders.”, said Ram Khandelwal, CEO & Founder, Urban Innovation Lab.
